New NIRVANA Memberships & Prices

As you may be aware the pricing policy for Nirvana Fitness Memberships were not reviewed along with other facility charges for 2006/2007. Historically there have been a number of categories of membership, payment periods and payment methods within the Nirvana pricing structure. This highlighted the need to undertake an operational review of the membership packages.

There are currently 21 categories of membership encompassing peak and off-peak use, annual one off payment and direct debit payment, 1, 3 and 6-month memberships, concession memberships and corporate packages.

Having reviewed the current membership system the Council have agreed to the following changes:

1. Removal of all 1 and 3 month memberships.
2. 6 and 12 month cash only memberships available.
3. A membership contract to operate for a minimum 6-month period.
4. A £30.00 joining fee to be introduced.
5. A £5.00 induction fee for all casual members.
6. Off-peak times to be adjusted to 7.30am-3.30pm Monday to Friday.
7. All memberships to include the use of exercise classes (some exclusions apply).

New membership categories and prices are as follows:

Platinum Membership (Monday – Sunday All Opening Hours)

Adult (12 month) £352.00, Monthly Direct Debit £32.00*
Concession (12 month)£197.00, Monthly Direct Debit £17.00*
Adult (6 month) £192.00
Concession (6 month) £100.00

Diamond Membership (Monday – Friday 7.30am-3.30pm)

Adult (12 month) £261.25, Monthly Direct Debit £23.75*
Concession (12 month)£142.00, Monthly Direct Debit £12.00*
Adult (6 month) £142.50
Concession (6 month)£83.00

* monthly payment after initial pro-rata fee

“Adult” means a person aged 18 years or over
“Concession” means a senior citizen (60+), junior (16-17 years), disabled, unemployed or student (identification will be requested)

These new membership packages will be introduced from 1st January 2007, at which point all new and existing members will be subject to the agreed amendments and prices.

In order to phase in the new membership packages it is no longer possible to purchase 12, 6,and 3-month cash memberships. From 1st November until 1st December only 1-month cash memberships will be available. Direct debit memberships are available throughout this period.

Members will be issued with new terms and conditions linked with a minimum 6-month contract. Those members wishing to cancel their membership after 6 months must do so in writing to the Leisure Centre and also notifying their bank/building society. Please note that members cancelling their membership will be subject to paying a joining fee should they chose to take out another package. This does not apply to those members wishing to down/up grade packages.
