Bangor Business Awards Scores a Perfect 10!
10 March 2010
The time has come once again for Bangor to give recognition to business excellence with the launch of the Bangor Business Awards 2010. This year sees the awards celebrate their 10th anniversary and they were successfully launched on Friday 26th February in SIGNAL Business Centre of Excellence and are now fully underway.
Joined by individuals from local and regional sponsoring businesses, the Awards organisers, Bangor Chamber of Commerce and Bangor Town Centre Management are delighted to welcome North Down Borough Council onboard as Principal Sponsor for this special year.
Commenting on the Council’s decision to sponsor the awards, Mayor of North Down, Councillor Tony Hill said: “The Bangor Business Awards give local businesses a unique opportunity to gain recognition for the contribution they make towards the overall development of our Borough. North Down Borough Council is delighted to be associated with these prestigious awards as Principal Sponsor in this special 10th anniversary year. I would encourage business from all sectors to enter and gain recognition for their efforts in progressing economic development in Bangor. With 15 categories to choose from, I am sure all our businesses will be able to identify at least one that matches their strengths.”
The awards offer local businesses the opportunity to put themselves forward for recognition for the hard work and dedication that is invested in their business. In such challenging times the awards are even more necessary to encourage confidence and to promote excellence in business practice; stealing a competitive edge is critical for success.
All judging is completed through an independent process that will be undertaken by expert judging panels and mystery shopping visits. The 15 categories are judged by a mixture of the two along with interview panels. This has done away with most of the written applications, continuing the ease of the entry process.
David McCready, Company Secretary of Bangor Chamber of Commerce, commented:“We are really pleased with the level of support we have received from sponsors on this special 10th anniversary year. A number have been with us since the awards inception and we warmly welcome their ongoing commitment. New sponsors have come on board with hearty enthusiasm and their presence is to be applauded.”
The Gala event will take place on Thursday 20 May 2010 in the Clandeboye Lodge Hotel when Bangor Chamber of Commerce, Town Centre Management and North Down Borough Council will be joined by Corporate Sponsor Spectator Newspapers and the other award sponsors; Ulster Bank, Denman, Wilson Nesbitt, AXA Direct, North Down Development Organisation (NDDO), Invest NI, J Hatty & Co, Matthew Morrow from O2, Flagship Centre, Signal Business Centre of Excellence, Mellons Hyundai and the Evening Economy Working Group.
Leading NI comedian, Dan Gordon, star of television comedy series, ‘Give my Head Peace’ will host the evening adding to the range of entertainment that will be laid on for guests; ensuring that they have an extra special fun packed night celebrating business excellence in Bangor.
Awards brochures will be distributed to all Bangor businesses within the coming week and further information is available by contacting (028) 9147 9651.
