Bike Week 2011

Saturday 18 June marks the start of National Bike Week 2011 and is the perfect time to dust down your bike and take part in one of the many cycling events taking place across Northern Ireland.
In North Down, the Council, in partnership with Bike Works, Friends of the Earth, North Down Cycle Club and Sustrans is organising a number of activities that will appeal to cyclicts of all ages.

Wednesday 22 June 2011 at 7pm Mystery Ice Cream Cycle Ride
Meet at McKee Clock Bangor. One hour cycle to a mystery destination and back to the Banana Boat, Gray’s Hill. Contact Paul at Bikeworks for more details on 07999 302672.
Thursday 23 June 2011 at 6pm Cycle Skills and Fun Night
Bloomfield Shopping Centre. Includes skills events, bike safety checks, prizes. Open to children in P4 to Year 8. £5 registration fee. Booking essential via Tanya Fisher on (028) 9146 466.7
Friday 24 June Cycle to Work
6.30am from McKee Clock Bangor and 7.30am from Johnny the Jig Holywood to Belfast City Hall where free breakfast will be available. Contact Paul at Bikeworks for more details on 07999 30267.2
18-26 June Free swim or activity at Council Leisure Centres
A free pass for Bangor Leisure Centre, Queens Leisure Complex or Bangor Sportsplex until the end of August if you cycle to a leisure centre during Bike Week.
Bike Week is an annual celebration of cycling. It is promoted in Northern Ireland by Travelwise NI, which aims to get more people cycling to work. Bike Week offers an opportunity for everyone from seasoned cyclists to those who have never cycled before to get out on their bikes.
