Holywood and Bangor Will Help Light London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay Route
07 November 2011
Holywood and Bangor have been announced as communities on the route of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay. This means that the Olympic Flame will visit both towns during its 70 day/8,000 mile tour of the UK early next summer.
It has been confirmed that the Torch will tour the two North Down towns on Sunday 3 June. It is hoped that residents from across the Borough will come out to welcome the Olympic Flame and share in the excitement of the build up to the 2012 Games; also to celebrate the achievements of the many Torchbearers who will help to transport the Flame along the local relay route.
Holywood and Bangor are just two of over 1,000 villages, towns and cities announced by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) through which the Olympic Flame will be carried by Torchbearers during the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay, which is presented by Coca-Cola, Lloyds TSB and Samsung.
